Light up Prague’s Metronome and support a good cause. Introducing Pulse of the City

Prague’s Metronome at Letná is taking on a new role. Introducing Pulse of the City, a charitable initiative that lets members of the public illuminate one of Prague’s most recognisable landmarks in colour for one minute while supporting a non-profit organisation of their choice. Six organisations have joined the initiative.

For more than thirty years, the Metronome at Letná has been part of Prague’s skyline and a place where people meet, spend time together and enjoy views across the city. Pulse of the City offers a way to turn a visit into a personal experience that also makes a difference to others.

The idea is simple. Visitors to pulsmesta.cz choose one of the six participating organisations, select its colour and pay to light up the Metronome for one minute. They can arrange a birthday surprise, celebrate an anniversary or simply create their own special moment in Prague. Every illumination provides financial support to a specific organisation.

“We wanted to give the Metronome a new dimension and offer people a way to combine a personal experience with something meaningful for others. Pulse of the City is built on a simple idea: a single moment can bring you joy while helping someone else,” says Max Skala, CEO of PSN.

Six organisations, six ways to help

Pulse of the City brings together Nadace Terezy Maxové dětem, Nadační fond Kapka naděje, Díky, že můžem, Pink Crocodile, Nadační fond AutTalk Kateřiny Sokolové and Fond ohrožených dětí. Each organisation works in a different area, from supporting vulnerable children and children facing illness, through education and care for children with special needs, to strengthening civil society and democratic values.

The Tereza Maxová Foundation supports disadvantaged children and helps give them the chance to grow up in a safe family environment. Kapka naděje helps children facing illness and supports healthcare facilities. Díky, že můžem highlights the importance of freedom and democracy and encourages civic engagement. Pink Crocodile helps children with special needs access education, therapy and the care they need. The AutTalk foundation supports families of children on the autism spectrum. Fond ohrožených dětí helps children experiencing abuse, neglect or other forms of vulnerability, providing immediate assistance and a safe place to stay through its Klokánek facilities.

Each organisation has its own colour within the initiative. By choosing a colour, participants also choose which cause their illumination will support.

The full amount paid goes to charity

PSN has committed to passing on the full amount paid for each Metronome illumination to the selected non-profit organisation. As the payment is legally classified as a fee for a service, PSN will cover the VAT portion from its own funds, ensuring that the full purchase price goes to charity. PSN also covers all costs associated with operating the Metronome and running the initiative.

“It was important to us that the support for these organisations should be more than symbolic. Every illumination represents a direct financial contribution, and the full amount paid reaches the organisation each person has chosen,” adds Max Skala.

How can you light up the Metronome?

Simply visit pulsmesta.cz, choose an organisation and make your payment. The system will then confirm the time of your illumination based on the current booking queue. At the assigned time, the Metronome will light up for one minute in your chosen organisation’s colour.

Pulse of the City is designed as a long-term charitable initiative by PSN, which operates the Metronome and has long been responsible for its maintenance.
