The Vinohradská 8 Ceremonial Hammer Becomes Part of a Time Capsule Beneath Wenceslas Square

The capsule brings together contemporary documents, coins, newspapers and symbolic artefacts contributed by institutions and partners involved in the revitalisation of Wenceslas Square. Each item tells a different story about Prague today. PSN chose to contribute an object that represents the beginning of every great project – the moment when a vision becomes reality. The ceremonial hammer was used to tap the foundation stone of Vinohradská 8 during the official groundbreaking ceremony. Today, it represents more than the start of a single development. As part of the time capsule, it takes on a new meaning, becoming a testament to an era in which Prague's city centre is evolving at an unprecedented pace, with projects that will shape the city for decades to come.

Wenceslas Square is reclaiming its historic role as one of Prague's principal urban boulevards. The revitalisation of its public realm, the return of tram services, and new investment across the surrounding area demonstrate that urban development is about far more than individual buildings. It is about creating a high-quality environment where people can live, work and meet. We are therefore proud to be part of this initiative. Our contribution is not only a reminder of one particular project, but also a symbol of the responsibility we embrace as a developer towards the city. Every building, every public space and every decision becomes part of Prague's evolving story. When the time capsule is eventually opened, perhaps this modest ceremonial hammer will serve as a reminder of the moment another chapter in that story began.
