Poliform Prague contributed to the realization of a unique loft apartment within the iconic residential project Vanguard Prague. The result is a timeless interior that connects the industrial character of the original building with precise Italian design and a strong attention to detail.
The Vanguard project, created through the conversion of a former factory building in Prague’s Modřany district, ranks among the most distinctive residential developments of recent years. The industrial structure from the secont half of the 20th century has been transformed into modern loft living while preserving authentic elements of the original architecture – from massive reinforced concrete structures to large-format windows. A defining feature of the project is its generous lofts with ceiling heights reaching several meters, open layouts, and an emphasis on spatial flexibility.
At the same time, Vanguard offers amenities that are unparalleled in the Czech context – residents have access to a wellness zone with a swimming pool located in a former civil defense shelter, a sauna, fitness facilities, a private cinema, and concierge services. The project thus combines industrial aesthetics with the comfort of contemporary urban living.
“Within this exceptional framework, Poliform introduced a sophisticated solution for key living areas – from the kitchen and built-in wardrobe systems to the dominant elements of the living space. The overall aesthetic of the interior is based on clean lines, refined materials, and, of course, the technical excellence of the Poliform brand, enhancing the romantic rawness of the loft while bringing warmth and functional comfort,” said Jiří Stopka, Poliform’s representative for the Czech Republic.
“Vanguard is a project that has maintained a clear standard from the very beginning – both in its architecture and in the quality of living it offers. Collaborating with a brand like Poliform allows us to extend this standard into the interiors. For our clients, it is a guarantee that every detail reflects the overall quality of the project,” adds Jan Procházka, Sales Manager of Vanguard.
The realization works with a contrast between industrial rawness and precise craftsmanship. Minimalist furniture volumes allow the original architecture of the space to stand out, while thoughtful details such as concealed storage systems and sophisticated surface finishes ensure a high standard of everyday use.
“Vanguard represents a type of living that calls for a strong yet refined solution. Our goal was to create an interior that respects the authenticity of the place while offering maximum comfort,” concludes Jiří Stopka.
The result is a harmonious whole where Italian design naturally meets the building’s industrial history. The project confirms Poliform’s ability to engage in architecturally demanding developments and create interiors with lasting value.
Interior Furnishing: A Dialogue of Materials and Detail
The interior is furnished with iconic Poliform pieces, complemented by standalone design objects that enhance its character. In the living area, the modular Wall System library and the Phoenix kitchen take center stage, accompanied by the Concorde dining table and Leopold chairs. The space is softened by the Brera sofa and the Kaori armchair in a combination of leather and fabric, complemented by Mush and Ube coffee tables. The atmosphere is further shaped by the Spyder X lighting objects by Henge and Tim luminaires by Bomma.
In the private zone, a distinctive accent appears in the form of the Reflex bathtub by Antonio Lupi, made of tinted resin, which becomes the focal point of the bedroom. The space is further complemented by the Kelly bed, Onda bedside tables, and a dresser, all by Poliform. The Superb-All light installation by Henge, composed of glass-laminate spheres on polished brass rods, operates at the intersection of gravity and geometry. The bathroom is completed with the Apollo shower system by Antonio Lupi.
The wardrobe areas are designed using the Senzafine system, both as a walk-in closet and in the Ego wardrobe variant, offering maximum variability and the precise organization typical of the Italian brand Poliform. A refined color accent in shades of burgundy runs throughout the interior – from leather details on upholstered furniture to a throw in the bedroom and the striking bathtub and leather-topped dresser. This motif connects the individual zones and lends the space a distinctive and elegant character.
Art as an Integral Part of the Interior
Carefully selected artworks by visual artist and sculptor Rudolf Burda were chosen for this project, adding another layer of meaning and reinforcing the space’s character. The dominant piece, House of the Future, works with visions of the future and architectural imagination in the context of contemporary design. The work pays tribute to architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
A dynamic counterpoint is formed by two steel artworks, Yellow and Vertical Lines – abstract geometric pieces created using a unique powder enamel technique. The artist personally mixes the pigments and subsequently fires each layer, resulting in a distinctive depth, structure, and color intensity.
The space is further complemented by First Rotation – a unique rotating glass sculpture made of hand-blown Czech crystal combined with uranium glass and a silvered interior. The piece explores light, movement, and optical transformation, bringing subtle dynamism and an additional visual dimension to the interior.
The artworks are not merely decorative elements but become an integral part of the interior. They engage in a dialogue with the architecture, materials, and color palette, co-creating a harmonious whole with a clear artistic signature.
